When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.
An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.
If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.
If you leave a comment on our site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.
If you visit our login page, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.
When you log in, we will also set up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. If you select “Remember Me”, your login will persist for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed.
If you edit or publish an article, an additional cookie will be saved in your browser. This cookie includes no personal data and simply indicates the post ID of the article you just edited. It expires after 1 day.
In addition to cookies, we use your browser’s local and session storage to keep a randomly generated analytics device identifier and session identifier. These let us measure usage and conversion without relying on third-party cookies. They are described in more detail under “Analytics, usage tracking & profiling”, and are cleared when you log out.
Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.
These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.
We operate our own first-party analytics to understand how ScoutForge is used and to improve the product. We record usage events such as page views, searches, apps you view, links you click through to, sign-up and email verification steps, app submission steps, and promotion/purchase steps. How much we store depends on your cookie/analytics choice:
Without your consent (default and when you decline): we collect only anonymous, aggregate statistics. We do not store your IP address and we do not place any persistent identifier in your browser. To count unique visitors we derive a one-way value that rotates every day and cannot be traced back to you or linked across days, together with your country (derived from your IP, which is then discarded). This data does not identify you.
With your consent (after you click “Accept”): to recognise you across visits and measure conversion, we additionally store a randomly generated device identifier in your browser (in local storage), your IP address, your browser user-agent and an approximate location (country and city). If you are logged in, we associate your activity with your account username so we can build a connected view of your journey and provide aggregated, AI-assisted product insights to our administrators. This constitutes profiling. We do not use this data for automated decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects about you. If you log out, the device identifier is cleared and a new visit is treated as a new anonymous person; you can also clear it at any time from your browser’s storage settings.
This analytics data is processed on our own servers and is not sold and not shared with third-party advertising networks. During a transition period we may additionally use PostHog, a product-analytics provider, which processes data on our behalf in the European Union and only when you have consented; we are in the process of phasing this out in favour of our first-party solution. We aggregate or delete raw analytics event logs within 90 days (see “How long we retain your data”).
For visitors in the European Economic Area and the United Kingdom, we rely on our legitimate interests (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR) to operate first-party analytics and improve the service, balanced against your rights and freedoms, and on your consent where required for non- essential tracking. For users subject to Türkiye’s Law on the Protection of Personal Data (KVKK No. 6698), we process personal data on the legal grounds set out in Articles 5 and 6, including the legitimate interests of the data controller and, where applicable, your explicit consent. You may withdraw consent at any time; withdrawal does not affect processing carried out before withdrawal.
If you request a password reset, your IP address will be included in the reset email.
We use a limited number of service providers (data processors) to run ScoutForge, which may process the data described above on our behalf and under contract: our hosting and infrastructure providers, our payment processor (Stripe) for promotion purchases, our email delivery provider, and—during the transition described above—our analytics provider (PostHog). We do not sell your personal data.
If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.
For users that register on our website (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.
Raw analytics event logs (described under “Analytics, usage tracking & profiling”) are retained for up to 90 days, after which they are aggregated into anonymous statistics or deleted.
If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.
Subject to applicable law (including the GDPR and Türkiye’s KVKK), you have the right to access your personal data, to have it corrected or erased, to object to or request restriction of processing (including profiling for analytics), to withdraw consent, and to data portability.
